When you learn of a possible delay, do not wait or hope it resolves itself. Communicate immediately and document everything.
Notify all parties the buyer, the seller, the attorney, and the lender — in writing as soon as possible. Request and confirm all extensions in writing and ensure that due diligence and earnest money dates are properly adjusted.
Delays happen. Poor communication does not have to as well.
