BIC Tip #1095 — You Should Never Use AI as a Substitute

Watch Stephen Long explain AI in NC real estate

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way real estate professionals work. From marketing and analytics to education and client communication, AI tools can help brokers save time and improve efficiency. But as powerful as AI can be, it is not a substitute for professional or legal guidance.

AI can generate explanations, draft social media posts, create listing descriptions, and even summarize forms. However, AI does not interpret or enforce North Carolina law, and it cannot provide legal advice or replace official instruction from the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC).

When you have questions about:

  • License law or rule interpretation
  • Disciplinary actions or compliance standards
  • Trust account procedures
  • Agency agreements, disclosures, or contract formation

…the only correct source is the NCREC, a qualified attorney, or the official course materials developed and approved for real estate education in North Carolina.

Remember  AI outputs are only as accurate as the data they have been trained on. They may reflect outdated forms, misstate a statute, or misapply a rule if used without verification.

Always cross-check AI-generated content against:

  • The NCREC website
  • Commission-approved course materials
  • The latest forms and rule updates from NC REALTORS® and NC BAR
